A Promises from God to us (notes from John Piper's Most-Used Promises)

Isaiah 41:10 fear not, for I am with you;      be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you,      I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. dismayed: look at something with feelings of anxiety or distress caused but usually something unexpected strengthen: to be strong, alert, courageous, brave, stout, bold, solid, hard help: to surround, i.e. protect or aid:—help, succour (assistance and support in times of hardship and distress) uphold: to grasp, hold, support, attain, lay hold of, hold fast God himself is speaking as an "I" to me personally. When I recite this by an act of faith, I am hearing the living God saying to me, I will do all these things! Those 3 verbs (strengthen, help and uphold) correspond to every challenge we can face. Strength when were weak and inadequate. Help of whatever kind we need. Upholding when we feel threatened, opposed and beat down. It comes true!!!!! Even though in cont...

what is my spiritual gift, how can I use it to help the church?

As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God's varied grace: whoever speaks, as one who speaks oracles of God; whoever serves, as one who serves by the strength that God supplies—in order that in everything God may be glorified through Jesus Christ. To him belong glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen. 1 Peter 4:10-11 Having gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, let us use them: if prophecy, in proportion to our faith; if service, in our serving; the one who teaches, in his teaching; the one who exhorts, in his exhortation; the one who contributes, in generosity; the one who leads, with zeal; the one who does acts of mercy, with cheerfulness. Romans 12:6-8 Purpose: And he gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds and teachers, to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to ma...

Psalm 102: Do not hide your face from me

A prayer of one afflicted, when he is faint and pours out his complaint before the Lord complaint: a statement that a situation is unsatisfactory or unacceptable. Stumbled upon this cross reference in discipleship (Hebrews 1:10-12) Notes: Thoughts of one who is afflicted, expressing deep sorrow for being exiled from his native land perhaps. Troubles were not the result of God's judgement on personal sin. Only hope during this time was to refocus on God's sovereignty and God's eternal nature in fulfilling promises. 3 parts: v. 1-11: A plea for divine help Talks about his state of sorrow and pain, being deserted and left alone from man and God (God would not forsake his people, this may not be a statement of fact but he is driven to say this due to his emotional state). v. 12-22: A perspective of God's sovereignty and eternality Eternal nature of God is described (v.12), God's timing (v.13) which is connected to God's sovereignty, (v.15) ...

Even though we didn't necessary figure it out! (sabrina). Like looking into the greek because it gives so much more meaning to the text and can change the way I previously looked at the passage.
